How to start with science communication?

In this workshop, you’ll discover how to share your research clearly and engagingly with a broad audience — through talks, podcasts, video, written pieces or media. We’ll explore different formats and work with concrete examples and practical steps. Afterwards, you’ll be ready to start communicating about your work right away.

What you’ll learn

The workshop is built up in three parts:

🔍 WHO – Understand who your message is for and why

You have a message you want to share. But which format should you choose? And who is your audience?

  • Who do you want to reach, and what do you need to keep in mind for them?
  • Every format has its pros and cons.
  • What makes a story newsworthy – and how can you use them to your advantage?

🎯 WHAT & WHERE – Shape your story

Ready to get to work? In this part, you’ll turn your concept into a clear story and look for channels and media where you can share your research.

  • How do you structure a clear story, whether it’s for podcasts, events, video, articles, social media, …?
  • How do you grab attention in the right way?
  • Where can you share your story? How do you get into events, media, or in front of your audience?

💬 START – Put it into practice

Choose what you want to focus on. Writing? Video? Speaking? Some other wild idea? It doesn’t matter. During the workshop, we’ll take the first steps to turn your idea into action. That way, afterwards you can fully focus on achieving your goal.
