Aim: the participants learn to present their research in a clear and convincing manner, tailored to their target audience and following the PechaKucha method standards.
Approach: a combination of theory, practical exercises and inspiring cases. We will be using research examples from the participants themselves, which we will have requested beforehand and have incorporated in the workshop.
Participants: preferably no more than 15 for an optimal group interaction, but we also work with larger groups (e.g. 40 participants).
Language: Dutch, English or Spanish.
Location: we come to your organization. (This workshop is also available online)
Trainers: Hans Van de Water
PechaKucha is a dynamic presentation method. The formula: 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Each presentation lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds. The slides are set to advance automatically every 20 seconds.
Instead of overloading your slides with text, you tell your story through pictures. The result? Clear and inspiring presentations and an excited audience. A perfect format for a research event, for instance, where researchers will be giving back-to-back talks.

Half or full day
Have your choice of a half (3 hours) or full day (6 hours, lunch break time not included).
During the 6-hour workshop, we will delve deeper into the different presentation techniques and there will be more room for practice. The participants will work on their PechaKucha and receive more personalized feedback.
About PechaKucha and how to get started:
- Structure: how should I build up my PechaKucha presentation?
- Attention: how do I hold my audience’s attention for the full 6 minutes and 40 seconds?
- Simple: how can I simplify a complex story for my audience to understand?
- Performance: how do I present on stage?
- Interaction: how do I involve my audience during my presentation?
- Images: where can I find them and how should I use them?
Hans provided good examples, discussed open-minded the advantages and disadvantages of the presentation format with the participants, gave excellent hands-on tips and tricks and finally motivated all participants to improve their scientific communication in the future. – Sarah Garré, professor at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech
